Pre-Departure

Hi everybody!

I figured this is the easiest way to stay in touch with everybody while I'm abroad. So please stay tuned because I'll try and post pictures in addition to the written updates. I'm not sure how interested everyone is, but I thought this would be a fun and easy way to keep everyone updated.

I leave January 14th for Madrid where I will stay for a week before heading to my final destination of Valencia, Spain. I am going to stay with a host family while I'm studying abroad. The couple is in their 30's and they have a son and a daughter. Their house is 45 minutes walking distance from the University of Valencia where I will be studying. Don't worry, there is a bus I can take. I am going to take 4 classes during the semester, but they are all in Spanish! I'm really excited to work on my Spanish skills.

The program itself is through ISA (International Studies Abroad) and there are 30 other students studying abroad in Valencia. There is only one other person from K-State going to Valencia. I just met her this weekend, but other than that I do not know anyone else going on the trip. However, I do know they are all students from universities in the United States. In fact, it looks like a majority of the students are from the University of Kentucky.

Besides working on my Spanish, I am looking forward to doing as much traveling as possible. I will have a lot of opportunities to travel because the program lasts until May 17th.

Okay, hope everyone is doing well and I will talk to you all very soon!

Love,
Katie
